The terms.

Plain language. If anything is unclear, email hello@cited.co.za and we'll explain. Using Cited means agreeing to what's below.

1. Who you're contracting with

Cited is a service operated as part of CareerForge, a South African business based in Durban. The contracting entity for paid services is the registered business; details are available on request to hello@cited.co.za before you place an order.

2. What we provide

Three services across three tiers:

  • Tier 1 — Free Scan. An automated ATS-style score plus a summary of structural and keyword issues. Returned on screen and accessible via a saved scan link for 30 days.
  • Tier 2 — Detailed Diagnostic Report (R99). A complete breakdown of every issue detected, full keyword analysis, and a region-specific fix guide. Delivered immediately on payment confirmation.
  • Tier 3 — Full CV Rewrite (from R450). A human-edited rebuild of your CV in an ATS-safe template, with one round of revisions. Delivered as .docx and .pdf within 3–5 business days of receiving your completed intake form.

3. What we don't provide

We don't guarantee you'll get an interview, a job, or any specific outcome from your job search. Our service improves how a CV is structured, formatted, and keyworded for ATS systems. The decisions of recruiters, hiring managers, and ATS systems themselves are outside our control.

4. Payment

All prices are in South African Rand and include VAT where applicable. Payments are processed by PayFast (Pty) Ltd. We don't see or store your card details. PayFast's terms apply to the payment portion of the transaction; ours apply to the service we deliver.

5. Refund policy

Tier 2 (R99 Detailed Report): Because the report is delivered immediately and consists of digital information, refunds are not available once the report has been unlocked. If you have not yet viewed the unlocked report and the system shows it as not-yet-accessed, contact us within 24 hours of payment for a refund.

Tier 3 (R450+ Rewrite): If your rewritten CV scores below your original CV's score on our own scoring engine, we will refund the full rewrite fee. To trigger this, run your original CV and the delivered rewrite through the free scanner; if the rewrite's score is lower, email us within 30 days of delivery and we'll refund in full. In practice this has not happened in delivered rewrites, but the guarantee stands.

Refunds processed via PayFast typically take 3–5 business days to reflect in your account.

6. Your responsibilities

You confirm that the CV you upload is yours, or that you have permission to use it. You're responsible for the accuracy of the content (employment history, qualifications, claimed achievements). We don't fact-check your CV — we score and rewrite the structure, wording, and ATS-readability of what you give us.

Don't upload anything illegal, abusive, or designed to test or break our scoring system in bad faith. We reserve the right to refuse service and refund any payment if a CV is clearly being used to defraud a recruiter or employer.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, Cited's total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages — for example, lost wages from a job you didn't get, opportunity cost, or emotional distress.

Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 that cannot lawfully be limited.

8. Intellectual property

You keep all rights to your CV, your job descriptions, and any information you provide. By using the service, you grant us a limited right to process that content solely to deliver the service you ordered. We don't claim ownership over your CV, before or after rewriting.

The Cited scoring engine, templates, content, and brand are our intellectual property. Don't copy or redistribute them.

9. Data and privacy

How we handle your personal data is covered in detail in our Privacy Policy. That document forms part of these terms by reference.

10. Changes to the service

We may update prices, feature sets, and these terms over time. If you've already paid for a Tier 2 report or Tier 3 rewrite, we'll deliver what you ordered at the price you paid, regardless of subsequent changes. Material changes to these terms will be reflected by an updated date at the top of this page.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa. Any dispute is subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of South African courts.
